Let's face it - the truth about what coaches and scouts are looking
for in pitchers these days is VELOCITY. If you can retire hitters
consistently, but if your fastball can't break a pane of glass, you won't
progress to the next level. No one's interested.
It's a sad commentary on how the game works - 200+ game winner Jamie Moyer
and sure Hall of Famer Greg Maddux, both highly successful MLB pitchers, wouldn't
even get a look at a tryout camp, let alone a college scholarship, if they
were starting over today as unknown young pitchers.
On their best day now, they're lucky to hit 86 mph. Much of the time,
their fastball velocity is even less.
"I
am a 20 year old junior college pitcher
at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
"First off, I would like to thank you for publishing such a
wonderful program. The fall of my freshmen year I was throwing 77-79 topping
out pretty much at 80.
This fall my velocity was great, being consistently
clocked from 82-85 and hitting 88
a couple of times!"
"About a year or so ago I bought the program to condition the
arm and increase throwing velocity and the strength and conditioning
program.
"I read all the materials
several times and formulated a program for a day to day workout for
my son (17 years old). He was going into his junior year of high
school at the time. After working on the programs faithfully
from September to January his whole game went to another level. He
is one of the best players in the whole league now." Danny
Moon, Redondo Beach, CA
Yet they keep on winning ballgames, earning millions in the process. The
key difference between them and YOU is that they have a long track record
of success as big-league pitchers - they know how to pitch. Hence, they
get breaks you'll never get.
The bad news: coaches and scouts are not going to change.
The good news: you can train to improve your throwing velocity!
If
this sounds interesting, read on, because I’m going to reveal some
little-known secrets about developing an AWESOME throwing arm. Then,
perhaps some day you'll send me a letter like this one from Andy
Schon, a pitcher on Walsh University's baseball team:
Andy went on to report,
"In my first collegiate start, I hit my spots and got stronger as the
game progressed. I threw a complete game with 10 Ks and 3 hits allowed as
we won, 2-1."
Click
Here For Hard Copy Booklets A rather impressive start to a promising college career, I'd say. And as
great as Andy's experience has been, his is but one of many letters I
receive from ball players around the world who are having similar success
using my training programs.
Allow me to introduce myself.
My name is Steve Zawrotny and I'm a former college baseball player, coach,
and current Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the
National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). I do
private bat speed and pitching instruction in the Oklahoma City, OK area.
In addition, I have a Bachelor of
Science degree in Physical Education from BYU, providing me with a solid
background in kinesiology, anatomy, and physiology. I've been a keen
observer and student over the years as to how the body functions in
athletic competition - particularly baseball. All of this has come
in handy as I've worked with hundreds of players, from Little League
through NCAA Division-1.
"Playing
on 90' bases this fall has been an easy adjustment and, thanks to
your programs, next spring will be a blast . I highly
recommend this for any child planning on moving up to 60'/90'
baseball! He's the best player on
his team now and wants to meet you someday. Thanks for
the help!"
Adam and James Smith, Hatfield, PA
I’ve been around baseball for
over thirty years as a player and coach – I’ve even been an umpire. In the
process I’ve talked to dozens and dozens of scouts and among the things
they’ve told me is that few things get their attention like an awesome
throwing arm. It doesn’t matter what the position - on the mound,
behind the plate, infield or outfield - a strong throwing arm gets you
noticed. Of the “Five Tools,” a really great
arm is the one scouts see the least. Click

But it
doesn’t have to be this way… A lot of kids run fast, and “good”
hitters in high school and college are a dime-a-dozen. Heck, in baseball,
everyone hits .300 or .400 these days, and for two big reasons:
Metal Bats, and pitchers with
MEDIOCRE ARMS! Like I said, it doesn’t have to be this
way. While it’s not easy to develop an awesome throwing arm, the
process is actually fairly simple. What you’ll learn in this program
has been proven both in a clinical setting and
on the field. But before we
go any further, you must understand this key point :
WEIGHT
LIFTING DOES LITTLE TO NOTHING TO IMPROVE THROWING VELOCITY If you want to lift weights, go ahead.
I write training programs for my private baseball and softball clients all
the time, and I've written a separate baseball- specific strength
and conditioning program that you can learn more about by scrolling
further down this page. Doug S., St.
Paul, MN It will safely and effectively get you
ready to play your game, and is designed to work in conjunction with this
throwing workout. Just be sure whatever program you use is designed
by someone who knows both baseball and biomechanics. Click
Here For Hard Copy Booklets But don't expect your increased strength
to do much for your throwing (or hitting, for that matter). WHY? Because to improve one's
baseball skills, such as throwing or hitting, your workout
must be closely related to the act of throwing or hitting. Sport-specific
strength is developed by movements with resistance or assistance that
imitate the joint action of the skill - SPECIFIC
RESISTANCE TRAINING. This is one of the key
reasons why weight lifting does very little to improve baseball/softball
performance. This "general" strength one develops with
weight lifting contributes very little to actual on-field success.
But even more important is the fact that
Weight
lifting the wrong way too often leads to
arm injuries, and who needs that? Remember,
baseball is a POWER
game, not a strength game, and strength and power, while related, are NOT
the same thing.
In the
BASEBALL PROGRAM TO CONDITION ARM & INCREASE THROWING VELOCITY, 2nd
Edition. I
show you what DOES work. This unique workout is based on two key
conditioning principles – SPECIFIC RESISTANCE
TRAINING and PROGRESSIVE OVERLOAD. These two principles MUST be
employed in any program to increase throwing strength. You’ll
be given clear instructions for: -
Reps
and sets for each throwing workout – no guessing -
Complete
and thorough directions for all aspects of the program (it really is simple, but boy,
does it work!) -
The
proper weight of balls to use – and yes, a regulation 5 oz. baseball is
one of them Click

"I implemented the weighted baseball program for our high
school pitchers beginning March 25. When I gunned them on
May 5 (6 weeks later) the average gain was 3.5 mph. We've
had enough success that I convinced my college head coach to let
me institute it with our college pitchers."
Don Spore, Pitching/Catching Coach So, if what you're

HARDER, the BASEBALL
PROGRAM TO CONDITION ARM & INCREASE THROWING VELOCITY, 2nd Edition,

Batting Power: Proven Method Quickly Improves
Bat Speed, Hitting Power - All Skill Levels! You don't realize it yet, but in the next few minutes you're going to learn some concepts about hitting power that will literally change your game. Tired of being considered a " weak" hitter and not fulfilling your potential? Then what you need is my proven training system that will:

My programs are being used with great success by THOUSANDS of players from around the world, from Little League through college and professional baseball - including adult recreational leagues. Pretty much the whole spectrum of ball players. The TRUTH About Developing REAL Hitting Power In this report I'm going to reveal some things about bat speed and hitting power that you've likely never considered before. These are concepts and techniques I personally mastered during my playing career and now teach to my players and students. The further you read, the more you'll learn about what it takes to become a consistent power hitter. Think about the game and its demands - just how strong do you really have to be to play it well? In baseball, the ball is 5 ounces and bats weigh approximately 30 oz. Heck, a lot of young players swig cups of Pepsi and Mountain Dew that weigh more than that! FACT: Baseball is a game of explosive POWER, not brute strength. Picking up a 30 oz bat is a measure of strength. Using it to blast a baseball 400+ feet is a measure of POWER. FACT: If you can't hit a baseball very well and decide to begin a weight lifting program, you'll become a strong player who still can't hit a baseball! FACT: If you want to increase a sport-specific skill like bat speed, it takes more than just lifting weights. A lack of understanding of these principles is a shortcoming common to many "trainers" and their programs. Think about the impact on your game as you incorporate the baseball-specific training principles contained in my training! Lifting and getting big and strong does not necessarily equate to hitting more home runs. If so, we'd be seeing guys like this in the major leagues!
Don't get me wrong - weight lifting has its place in the training and preparation of ALL ball players. I design weight lifting programs for many of my baseball and softball clients. I have also written a strength and conditioning program for baseball and softball players which you can learn more about by scrolling further down this page. Just be sure that whatever program you use, it is designed by someone who knows both baseball and biomechanics. Click Here For Hard Copy Booklets Click Here For E-Booklets Prefer A Video? Click Here This chart shows an approximation of how bat speed translates into distance. Increases in your bat speed will yield the additional distance as shown: +7 mph/35 feet +12 mph/60 feet +15 mph/75 feet +18 mph/90 feet Your mileage may vary,
of course. A number of factors will affect how far a batted ball
travels, including weather, humidity, the type of ball and bat used, speed
of the pitched ball, etc. Still, these numbers will generally hold
true and can give you a good idea of how this type of training can enhance
your game.
TIP #1: Start taking ALL of your batting practice with a wood bat instead of metal. Why? Because the "sweet spot" on a metal bat is much larger than that of wood. This is one key reason young players learn incorrect batting technique and develop bad habits - metal is much more forgiving if you don't hit a ball on the nose. Look at these pictures of this softball hitter making contact with a metal bat:
What do you think would have happened to this bat if it had been wood? It most likely would have broken, resulting in a weakly hit ball. But this hitter actually hit a home run on this pitch - seriously! This is how metal bats create bad habits - this particular stroke produced a hit on what probably should have been an out. Most hitters make this mistake all too often - mis-hitting the ball - resulting in poor contact, loss of power, and lowered batting average. If you
aspire to play professionally some day, take my advice - NOW - FACT: Practicing with wood will train you to refine your swing. How? With wood, when you don't hit the ball on the sweet spot, the bat vibrates, causing PAIN in your hands. This immediate feedback allows you a way to adjust your swing, or else you keep experiencing PAIN! You may have felt this with your metal bat. Trust me, it's worse with wood. That's exactly why practicing with wood is so valuable. Come game time, use your metal bat and watch your newly "honed in" swing boost your average and power just from this type of practice alone. Have you noticed yet that the things we've discussed so far go against much of the "conventional wisdom," yet they make perfect sense? Well, keep on reading - it gets better! TIP #2: The next time you're in the on-deck circle, getting ready for your turn at bat, DO NOT use a heavy donut. Why? Because clinical research and on-field performance have repeatedly shown this device actually inhibits bat speed. The same thing is true for the practice of taking dry-swings while holding several bats as well as using other heavily-weighted devices. Click Here For Hard Copy Booklets Click Here For E-Booklets Prefer A Video? Click Here Yes, I know this goes against everything you've been taught and have been doing. But if you've read this far, you're probably highly interested in improving your bat speed and hitting power. You therefore need to be open to the idea that just because everyone is doing something doesn't necessarily mean it's a good idea. Incorrect ideas abound in baseball, as in most areas of life. Why should you not swing a heavy implement while in the on-deck circle? FACT: Because this technique fatigues the fast-twitch muscle fibers you will momentarily be using to hit with at the plate! So if you shouldn't use a heavy donut or swing several bats at the same time, what should you do? Get a copy of the Baseball Program to Increase Bat Speed & Hitting Power, 2nd Edition and find out!
