Strength & Conditioning Assessment
Equipment List

The following items are required to properly perform the activities in our test battery for both baseball and softball players of all
ages. Some of these items you may already have on hand, like a tape measure and stopwatch. Others you can buy inexpensively or
borrow from someone (radar gun, bat speed radar). Some coaches and parents may consider acquiring these training tools as an
investment in their player's or team's future, much like the many bats, balls, shoes and gloves that will have be purchased over the
          years.

And, depending on how big your yard is, you may be able to do all of these tests right at home.

1)  Standard tape measure, at least 10 feet long or longer.

2) A hand grip dynanometer. These can be purchased on ebay for under $10; search for "hand grip dynanometer."

3) Some type of radar gun, such as a Jugs, Bushnell, or Glove Radar from Sports Sensors.

4)  Basketball or 2 pound medicine ball.

5)  A stopwatch.

6) A bat speed computer like the Swing-Speed from Sports Sensors, Inc., (under $100) or Bat Maxx from Techna Sport, or similar device. You can also try using a regular radar gun. Aim it so that the bat barrel passes through the energy beam emitted from the gun.

NOTE: Many hitting cages and training facilities have throwing and bat speed radars available for use.
