An early look at who's headed to the 2007 World Series...

National League

St. Louis Cardinals - yes, they're looking troubled as of this writing, but they may be starting to hit. Albert Pujols is too good to not return to form. If the Cards can stay close until Chris Carpenter, one of the best pitchers in the National League, returns from his elbow surgery, look out. In a weak division, the Cards are 7 games below .500 and are only 8 games out of first. If these guys get hot at the right time, look out, so take this as a hint and purchase tickets to watch the Cardinals get out of their slump! I see them winning the NL Central Division and meeting the NY Mets for the NLCS.

NY Mets - on paper, arguably the best team in the National League. Tough starting pitching, although you have to wonder how long Tom Glavine can keep it going. I say he has a good '07 season to get his 300+ wins, leading the Mets to the division title. David Wright will get hot to lead them offensively.

Others to watch: The LA Dodgers or Arizona Diamondbacks, with their pitching, could make some noise. The Milwaukee Brewers good start will fade to at best a .500 season, not good enough to take their division or the wild card.

American League

Boston Red Sox - playing the best baseball of all right now. It's a long season, but the Sox are playing with confidence and have no weaknesses. Assuming no undue injuries, should win their division, and as I mentioned before now would be the time to get your tickets to your favorite MLB teams!

Detroit Tigers - great pitching, and the addition of Gary Sheffield gives them the potent bat they lacked in last year's Series. Jim Leyland adds to his managerial legend to produce enough wins for either their division title or a wild card spot.

Others to watch: The Oakland A's and Anaheim Angels. The A's have a knack for making the post-season (before self-destructing) and the Angels have the coaching and tools to make a run. Roger Clemens will not be the answer for the NY Yankees.

And the 2007 World Series champ? The Detroit Tigers over the NY Mets in five!
